# Firm Settings

> What a firm administrator can configure.

Firm administrators have a **Firm Admin** menu (under the avatar menu, top right) for configuring how the firm runs. This is separate from the platform-level controls that the Matter Vault team manages — a firm admin controls everything about their own firm's day-to-day operation.

## What a Firm Admin Doesn't Control

Turning whole product modules on or off — like enabling the PI or Estate side — is not a firm-admin setting; that is handled at the platform level by the Matter Vault team. Some safeguards are also locked by design: for example, statute-of-limitations reminder defaults cannot be loosened below the platform standard.
