The **Email** stream (under the Communication tab) is the case's email history — every message to and from the case's dedicated inbox, threaded and searchable. It sits alongside a second stream, **Portal comments**, covered on the Portal page.

## The Email List

Messages are listed newest-first, each showing the direction (inbound or outbound), who it's from and to, the subject, a short preview, an attachment count, and when it arrived. Replies group into threads, so a back-and-forth shows as one entry you can expand to see the older messages.

You can search by subject, sender, or body, filter by sender, and narrow to a date range. When the case has no email yet, the tab reminds you of the inbox address to forward client emails to.

## Reading a Message

Opening a message shows the full From / To / Cc / Date / Subject details and the message body, with its attachments listed below. From here you can preview or download an attachment, and **promote** an email — or an attachment — to evidence, which files it as a case document and records a custody event. If an outbound message bounced or was marked as spam, a banner explains what happened and, for certain sends, lets you correct the address and resend.

## Two Helpful Flags

The email stream watches for two things and surfaces them at the top:

* **Possible medical records** — when an incoming attachment matches one of the case's providers, a banner offers to link it to the right bill and analyze it, review it first, or dismiss it.
* **Needs review** — email from an unfamiliar sender is flagged so you can confirm it belongs on the case and mark it reviewed.

## A Note on Sending

Most outbound email on a case is generated for you — for example an adjuster follow-up or a records chase — and appears as a draft in a pending queue at the top of the list, where you review it and send. When you send, the app uses your firm's verified sending address and adds your professional footer automatically; those are applied behind the scenes rather than something you set each time.
